A Dust Management Plan (DMP) is a document required by UK councils as a planning condition, usually before demolition or construction work begins. It identifies the dust-generating activities on a site — demolition, earthworks, construction and trackout — assesses the risk to neighbouring residents and properties, and sets out the mitigation measures that will be used, such as damping down, wheel washing, road sweeping and on-site monitoring. Some councils, particularly in London, call the same document an Air Quality Dust Management Plan (AQDMP) or ask for a Dust Risk Assessment; whatever the name, the purpose is the same. Dust controls are also commonly required as part of a wider Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
